CRYOCAD supported SpaceDreams in the detailed engineering of fluidic lines for a modular launcher platform. The project focused on the interconnection between containerized process units and the launcher table, including cryogenic and utility piping systems. The scope covered the complete design of piping systems for LOX, high‑pressure helium (~400 bar), nitrogen, and ventilation lines, all integrated within a highly constrained structural environment. Special attention was given to cryogenic conditions, requiring the implementation of double‑wall vacuum‑insulated piping systems to ensure thermal stability and operational reliability at temperatures down to approximately −185 °C.
The design included the full development of the vacuum‑insulated concept, including double‑wall terminations, vacuum interfaces, and safety features such as burst discs to protect the system in case of inner pipe failure. Pipe stress analysis was performed using ROHR2, with direct integration from the 3D model via PCF export, enabling an efficient iterative design process.
CRYOCAD also engineered the pipe support systems, combining LISEGA supports for cryogenic lines with modular structural solutions based on the Hilti platform. This ensured controlled load transfer, accommodation of thermal expansion effects, and full compliance with applicable standards such as PED 2014/68/EU and EN 13480.
Deliverables included detailed 3D models, general arrangement drawings, piping isometrics, and bills of materials, ensuring a smooth transition from design to fabrication and installation.
